The Dane County Towns Association advocates for all facets of open government. For some, Wisconsin's open government laws are clear. Virtually all records and government meetings should be open and accessible to the public. But some facets of open government laws can be complex for others.
There is a great deal of self-help available if one takes the time to read it. We strive to make this section something of a easy-to-find clearing house of information on this topic. For town supervisors who have more questions, or for boards who are interested in revising their ordinances regarding records retention policies, record fees and accessibility, contact DCTA attorney Mark Hazelbaker at 662-9999 or email@example.com.
